PF Logo Express (PFLE) located near Poznan, Poland, is PF Concept’s production facility and pan-European logistics centre. PFLE continues to pursue its “win-win” strategy on environmental excellence. The prime focus on reducing environmental impacts proves to be favourable for the environment and at the same time economically viable for the company. PFLE’s continuous improvement is deeply rooted in its ISO 14001-certified environmental management system. Marek Flaszak, PFLE’s Factory Director, takes special pride in the fact that again this year’s recertification audit was passed without any non-conformity!
A clear focus of the improvement plans in PFLE is the reduction of water and ink waste. With a reduction of ink waste of 26% in 2016, 18% in 2017, and another 10% in 2018, the use of ink for our printing techniques has been reduced year on year. In 2019 an adaptation of the production system has led to the re-use of a significant portion of the ink waste of one of our key printing techniques.
One of the major trends we have been following is digital printing, where we are now observing a strong increase in demand from our customers. PFLE has invested in digital printing technologies years ago, and the share of digital printing has continuously increased year on year. Since digital printing generates hardly any ink waste this initiative already has and will continue to have a positive impact on the environment and both resource and ink usage reduction. In 2019 we launched digital transfer, 360 digital print was launched in 2021, which resulted in doubling the share of digitally printed products in the total number of products decorated in the plant in the last three years.
A key development in 2020 and 2021 is the GOTS and GRS certification of our PFLE printing facilities and a wide range of printing techniques. Starting with embroidery in 2020 followed by screen print, transfer and pad print in 2021, PFLE now offers a complete range of certified sustainable printing techniques in addition to the use of Eco Passport by Oeko-Tex® for all apparel and a selection of bags. All GRS or GOTS certified products in the PF Concept collection are branded with certified inks. This gives assurance from source to print.
